First Day of School News

August 20, 2014

Good evening, this is Kim Zippie, Superintendent of the Commodore Perry School District.  It is with great anticipation that we look forward to starting a new school year.  I have some important information to share with you.

First, if you haven’t checked out our new website, please do.  You will find a “Parents” tab that will include pertinent announcements, forms and information. For instance, if you don’t hear this entire message, you can access a printed copy on the website under the Parents tab. One of our goals is to increase communication with our parents.  As we move through the year, if you have suggestions as to how we might use our website more effectively to communicate with you, please feel free to let me know.

We want to welcome three new teachers to our Commodore Perry family, Mr. Kaleb Bowser to our technology/engineering education program, Miss Brittany Totin to 5th grade and Mr. Jon Dillaman to 6th grade.

One of the biggest changes has to do with transportation.  Students will only be permitted to have one pick-up location and one drop-off location.  Having a different address in the AM and PM is acceptable as long as the addresses remain consistent and the same every daySplit days per week with multiple pick-up and drop-off locations are no longer permitted.    For example, requests to ride alternate buses for the reason of visiting a friend will not be granted.

As a reminder, seventh grade orientation is Monday night, August 25th at 6:00 in the elementary gymnasium.

Also, there will be a change for parents of high school students with regard to how students’ academic information is accessed online.  Information will be mailed to households in the next few weeks, as well as posted under the Parent tab on our website.

Enjoy the last few days of summer, and we look forward to welcoming our students on Tuesday, August 26th.
